"Clandestin" (Illegal immigrant) Mouss' has special relationship with his instrument, like a tamer with a feline. Let him give it a light touch from hid fingers and his bass can be gentle and docile, but should he give it a bow-stroke and it will get very emotional. In the album, the double bass enhances the sound of the oud and is under the spell of the percussions of Franck Boutin-Albran. It faithfully serves Mouss' bluey voice and echoes the wild and heavenly sound of Vincent Bûcher's harmonica. While "Roots" purposely sets an oriental mood, "Canicule" takes us to a voluptuous desert, and "Clandestin" spiritedly evokes the inhuman obstacle course people take on their search for freedom. |
